Numbered List
Best for: Tips, apps, tools, places
The hook
- Say
- 3 free apps that feel illegal to know about.
The first 3 seconds
- 0.0s“3 free apps…”
- 1.0s“…that feel illegal to know about.”
- 2.0sItem 1 is already on screen.
- 3.0sThe viewer knows how long it'll take and waits for number 3.
Why it works
A number tells the viewer how long it'll take and gives them a reason to wait for the last one.
What you need
- 3–5 items, with the best one saved for last
- A shot or screen recording of each item
- A counter for the screen (1/3, 2/3, 3/3)
Step by step
Plan
- Pick 3–5 items. In a Short, 3 is usually best.
- Put the strongest item last and the second strongest first.
Film
- Say the number first, then what the list is.
- Film each item clearly, with one sentence on why it's good.
Edit
- Add an on-screen counter for each item.
- Tease the last item early: “number 3 is the best one”.
Use it in your niche
- Travel3 cities in Europe that are cheaper than they look.
- Study4 free websites that make homework faster.
- Cooking3 meals you can make with just eggs.
Pro tips
- Odd numbers like 3, 5 and 7 tend to sound more natural.
- Keep each item under 10 seconds. A list dies when one item drags.
Avoid
- Teasing the last item and then not delivering. It has to be the strongest.
- A list of 10 in a Short. Nobody waits for number 10.
